Why This Role MattersThe Eligibility Specialist II plays a vital role in helping families access high‑quality childcare through the Child Care Assistance program. This position determines customer eligibility, provides consumer education, and assists families in enrolling with approved childcare providers. By ensuring accurate case management and offering exceptional customer support, the Eligibility Specialist II strengthens family stability and supports the broader early childhood system.
What You’ll Do- Determine eligibility for childcare services, complete case documentation, and process changes, drops, and transfers within required timelines.
- Perform income calculations, determine parent share‑of‑cost, and process all enrollment forms in compliance with state and local policies.
- Maintain accurate case files and enter data into TWIST and internal systems while handling a high daily volume of cases.
- Communicate program policies, customer rights, and eligibility outcomes in a professional, supportive manner; provide alternative resources when needed.
- Deliver excellent customer service, support team members, and complete additional duties to ensure smooth program operations.
What You Bring- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–2 years of experience determining eligibility, working directly with customers, and/or completing data entry; child development experience a plus.
- Strong critical‑thinking, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills with the ability to adapt to frequent policy changes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Professionalism, reliability, strong ethics, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment.
