EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
RN from and accredited school of nursing plus two years experience. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas or holder of a current equivalent licenses from another state with the ability to be licensed in Texas. Experience in working with individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities or mentally handicapped preferred. Experience with maintaining standards compliance (JCAH, ICFIDD, etc)
This position will be responsible for medical input and nursing services to clients residing in ICFIDD Adult Homes in Smith, Van Zandt and Henderson Counties. Duties will include evaluations, consultations, staff training, medical referrals, and being available to assist in coping with medical emergencies. Serves as a liaison with physicians and other health related professionals. Responsible to serve as a member of the treatment team and to comply with applicable standards for each assigned program site.
Takes and records patient's vital signs. Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical personnel in charge. Administers specified medication, orally or by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection, and notes time and amount on patients charts.. Sterilizes equipment and supplies. Follows approved behavioral intervention guidelines as directed by Psychologist / IDT.
