Notice of Filing of Application for Permanent Employment Certification
Notice is hereby provided that City of Worcester – School Department intends to file an Application for Permanent Employment Certification for the position of Financial Analyst with the U.S. Department of Labor.
JOB DUTIES
Assist in the daily fiscal operations of the Worcester Public Schools, which includes forecasting expenditures, analyzing building and / or cost centers, reconciling revenues and expenditures, as well as implementing necessary cost control measures to align with
authorized appropriation limits.
Assist and analyze the fiscal operations of the district’s utility accounts (44+ building locations) for the Worcester Public Schools, including direct oversight of monitoring investments of solar panels, lighting fixtures and net-metering credits for the district’s electricity costs, as well as upgrades to heating and cooling systems impacting utility expenditures.
Assist in the integration and use of technology within the Finance Division for areas such as, but not limited to, payrolls, expenditures, reimbursement of grant funded positions, projected costs and salary raises and enhancing the school department’s financial
management system.
Responsible for producing and maintaining Excel spreadsheets and pivot tables, as well as the development of Access databases to integrate several data sources for ongoing analysis.
Assist the Facilities Director and their staff with financial tracking of capital investment, facilities, and environmental management projects.
Work with utility vendors to ensure accurate billing and to address any discrepancies.
Utilize ERP Software for the development of all financial reporting for district, management and verification of data for Phase II payroll module.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Educational Requirement : Bachelor’s degree; Degree Field(s) acceptable : Finance, public administration, or related field.
1 year of experience as a Financial Analyst or in a similar role
Qualifying experience must include :
Microsoft Excel, Google applications, or other data visualization tools such as Morningstar and eMoney to analyze client scenarios and identify financial trends.
Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data by conducting regular data quality checks and implementing data validation procedures.
Conducting advanced analysis of financial data to identify trends and anomalies.
May also qualify with Master’s degree in Finance, Public Administration, or a related field and in lieu of 1 year of qualifying experience, may substitute graduate level internship / on-campus student position that includes special requirements :
