Professional Development : Participate in regular instructional coaching and weekly professional development to support growth and continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide Excellent College-Preparatory Instruction to All Scholars

Develop and maintain a positive achievement-oriented supportive and collaborative culture of high expectations that motivates and inspires scholars to learn at college-preparatory levels.

Effectively execute assigned curriculum and just-in-time supports to reach every scholar regardless of prior academic background disability or English language fluency.

Engage in internalizing assigned curriculum tied to specific grade level and content standards in teacher teams and individually to prepare daily lesson plans instructional materials and exit tickets aligned to rigorous college-ready standards.

Use exit tickets unit tests interim exams and other assessment data to determine differentiated re-teaching needed to advance all scholars toward demonstrating mastery.

Collaborate with peers to ensure that all scholars receive the appropriate support including the accommodations they need to successfully access grade-level content.

Uphold Alliance Values and Standards of Excellence

Provide all scholars opportunities aligned with the Alliances College-Ready Graduate Profile .

Create a coherent and supportive classroom culture to support scholar engagement learning and well-being.

Support Alliances aspiration to prepare all scholars for college with 75% or more completing a four-year college degree.

Seek opportunities both individually and through school-based initiatives to build strong and collaborative relationships with faculty staff families scholars and alumni.

IDEAL CANDIDATES

Belief : Hold the belief that all scholars regardless of their economic or social demographics deserve a quality education and can earn a four-year college degree.

Social Justice : Desire to teach in systemically underserved communities in Los Angeles and be a part of Alliances social justice mission by integrating anti-racist pro-Black student-centered instruction.

Culture : Demonstrate an ability to develop a positive achievement-oriented supportive and collaborative culture of high expectations that motivates and inspires scholars to learn at college-preparatory levels.

Data : Know how to use data technology and innovative teaching methods to monitor growth and scholar progress drive classroom learning and prepare all scholars to succeed in life after high school.

Expertise : Have strong academic content expertise instructional and classroom management skills and in-depth knowledge of effective evaluation and assessment techniques to drive scholar learning. Thrive in an environment of high expectations and collaboration.

Mindset : Hold a growth mindset and commit to continuously honing their teaching craft

Relationship-Building : Have strong interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills with both children and adults.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A California teaching credential in the assigned subject area(s) and a valid English Learner Authorization are required. Applicants who will hold any of the following credentials by their start date are welcome to apply :

California Single Subject Multiple Subject or Education Specialist Credential (Clear or Preliminary) with a full English Learner Authorization code of ELA1 or CLAD Emphasis or Bilingual Authorization code of BA

  • or BCLAD Emphasis . Applicants will be required to provide a copy of the credential or if in progress a status letter from their credential program.

California Clear Crosscultural Language and Academic Development (CLAD) Certificate . Applicants will be required to provide a copy of the credential or if in progress a status letter from their credential program.

California Single Subject Credential in World Language : English Language Development. Applicants will be required to provide a copy of the credential or if in progress a status letter from their credential program.

Equivalent Out-of-State Credential with a full English Learner Authorization transferring to California. Applicants will be required to provide a copy of their out-of-state credential. Note : If you do not yet hold a California-equivalent English Learner Authorization you may qualify for a temporary permit while transferring your credential.

Bachelors Degree : Applicants without a credential will be required to provide a copy of their transcript for evaluation to determine eligibility for an emergency teaching permit.

Applicants without a current credential or a verifiable pathway toward obtaining a California teaching credential will not be considered.

Professional Development : At Alliance we believe in supporting teacher growth and providing substantial school-based and network-wide professional development support for teachers including two weeks of professional development for new hires that introduce the Alliance culture and build classroom management and instructional planning skills.
