The Director provides strategic direction and oversight across a blended workforce of local and regional staff, contractors, and service providers. They partner closely with state leadership, school administrators, the national IT organization, curriculum/assessment teams, and external vendors/partners.

How You Will Impact Education

Instruction/Education Responsibilities

  • Own end‐to‐end IT service delivery, including incident, request, change, and problem management; ensure SLA attainment and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure effective endpoint management, identity/access, networking/Wi‐Fi, classroom AV, and enterprise applications across Apple and Microsoft ecosystems by coordinating with responsible parties.
  • Coordinate enterprise initiatives (e.g., system rollouts, infrastructure upgrades, major incident response) in partnership with state/national teams and vendors.
  • Govern asset lifecycle (procurement, deployment, inventory, refresh, disposal) and ensure high checklist compliance.
  • Assist in oversight and compliance to FERPA, CIPA, data privacy laws, accessibility expectations, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Support emergency preparedness and business continuity planning by aligning IT systems, staff, and procedures with life safety and disaster response requirements.
  • Promote safe work practices and secure configurations across devices, networks, and platforms.
  • Assist in oversight and adherence to relevant building code, fire code, company policy, and best practices related to life safety.
  • Partner with district Facilities, Safety, and Security teams to support code-compliant design and operation of systems such as emergency communication, fire suppression, access control, and backup power for critical IT systems.
  • Maintain current knowledge of state and local regulations affecting life safety in educational environments, contributing to safe, secure, and legally compliant campuses across the district.
  • Champion a culture of service excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement across the region.
  • Assist with regional and state strategic planning and road‐mapping; align priorities with academic and operational goals.
  • Anticipate emerging needs; drive proactive adoption of technology, automation, and AI‐enabled operations to reduce manual effort and improve reliability.
  • Utilize effective change management processes to realize intended outcomes.
  • Partner with academic leadership to align classroom technology to instructional goals and the CSUSA Education Model.
  • Oversee regional professional learning (synchronous/asynchronous) and individualized coaching for technology‐enhanced teaching.
  • Guide selection, rollout, and adoption of digital tools (e.g., iPads, Apple TV, LMS, instructional software); measure impact on teaching and learning.
  • Facilitate sharing of best practices and success stories; support school improvement plans with data‐informed tech strategies.
  • Model servant leadership that empowers and mentors team members; delegate effectively and build clear accountability structures.
  • Hire, onboard, coach, and develop a diverse, high‐performing team; manage capacity, scheduling, and cross‐training to ensure coverage.
  • Establish SOPs, runbooks, and a robust knowledge base to drive consistency and resilience across sites.
  • Serve as primary liaison to executive leadership, school leaders, and national IT; translate complex technical topics into actionable, audience‐appropriate updates.
  • Provide timely communications for planned changes, incidents, and project milestones; maintain transparent status reporting.
  • Foster multiple and effective feedback opportunities for internal and external customers to drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop short and long-term plans based on stakeholder and industry needs and trends. Translate into budgetary and operational plans.
  • Develop and manage regional budgets; optimize spend through forecasting, standards, and vendor negotiations.
  • Manage contracts, licensing, and service level agreements, lead RFPs and vendor performance reviews.
  • Maintain accurate reporting on inventory, licensing, warranties, and support contracts.
  • Define and track KPIs/OKRs (e.g., SLA compliance, CSAT, asset health, uptime, MTTR, adoption of instructional tools, PD participation/effectiveness).
  • Use analytics and feedback loops to inform staffing, training, process improvements, and purchasing decisions.
  • Develop effective reporting for customers of various levels to aid in awareness of performance and of services being delivered
  • Run a prioritized project portfolio balancing stability, innovation, and equity across schools.
  • Standardize architectures and configurations; manage cutovers, pilots, and phased deployments with change management best practices.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, MIS, Computer Science, Education/Instructional Technology, or related field required; advanced degree or equivalent leadership experience preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive IT experience including 3+ years leading distributed, multi‐site teams. - Demonstrated success managing both IT operations and instructional technology programs in K‐12 or similar environments. - Proven record of SLA management, budget ownership, vendor/contract oversight, and cross‐functional initiatives.
  • ITSM frameworks (e.g., ITIL), cybersecurity standards, cloud infrastructure, identity management, networking, and MDM. - Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Intune, Mosyle, Lightspeed, and major ticketing platforms (e.g., Fresh service); Apple and Microsoft ecosystems in K‐12. - Understanding of learning technologies (LMS, assessment platforms, classroom AV) and effective adult learning practices.
  • ITIL Foundation, CompTIA (A+/Net+/Sec+), Microsoft/Azure, Apple, Google Admin, or equivalent; Apple Learning Coach/Microsoft Educator certifications a plus.
  • Excellent communication, relationship‐building, and change‐management skills. - Ability to travel regionally with occasional out‐of‐state travel; valid driver's license as required. - Alignment with CSUSA's mission, values, and commitment to continuous improvement.
