Egan is seeking a Fire Alarm Technician in the Rochester MN area. This is a union position with top-rate wages healthcare retirement and vacation benefits. We are looking for independent customer-service oriented individuals who will consistently adhere to safety standards.

Responsibilities

The basic responsibilities of the Fire Alarm Technician include but are not limited to the following :

  • Installation of specified electronic life safety systems and peripheral device
  • Programming fire alarm systems Notifier experience is a plus
  • Assist with the start-up and commissioning of new equipment or system installation
  • Ability to lead and direct a team
  • Overcome challenges on retrofits and new installations
  • Ability to read and mark up prints
  • Train and instruct new users on a life safety equipment
  • Daily communication with Project Managers and the greater project team
  • Completion of daily safety and additional documents

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Experience installing and programming Fire Alarm Systems
  • Valid MN Power Limited Technician license
  • NICET Certification is preferred (We can assist you in attaining this certification)
  • Knowledge of Current NFPA 72 Code
  • Effective interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Presents a professional image both in personal and vehicle appearance
  • Valid Drivers License
  • 3 year Limited Energy JATC training or equivalent in time worked in the industry
  • Current IBEW Member or Willingness to join the local IBEW
  • Qualifications

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds (alone) or 50 to 85 pounds with assistance (team)
  • Ability to climb a ladder and work with heights
  • Highly motivated and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Attention to detail organization and time management skills
  • Proficiency using hand and power tools associated with the job in a safe manner
  • Good hand dexterity and strength
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to work overtime depending on workload
