Business Development Officer

The Business Development Officer oversees and manages partnerships with agencies or working directly with PolicyOwners to drive sales and revenue goals. This role involves collaborating with regional and national executives to ensure alignment with company objectives and maintain underwriting profitability. Key responsibilities include fostering strong relationships with agents or PolicyOwners, effectively communicating underwriting criteria, optimizing sales processes, and achieving premium targets while adhering to reporting structures. Whether working indirectly through agency partnerships or directly with PolicyOwners, the focus remains on achieving sales objectives while upholding efficiency and conversion standards.

Specific Duties :

  • Select and manage agency partnerships that lead to achievement of annual sales goals
  • Assist Regional Executive Officer in attainment of DWP goals, while maintaining established efficiency and conversion targets
  • Effectively communicate underwriting appetite to external agents and manage submission flow internally and externally
  • Work side by side with agency partners to bring the full scope of our PolicyOwner experience to all assigned accounts
  • Collaborate with the National Business Development Independent Agent Executive to accomplish all agent stewardship and premium goals both nationally and regionally.
  • Work with Regional Executive Officer to maintain the rate adequacy required to meet underwriting profitability goals while simultaneously achieving premium persistency targets
  • Achieve all objectives while working within matrix and direct reporting structures.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of new products and services to the marketplace.

Direct :

  • Responsible for building and maintaining Policyowner relationships leading to achievement of annual sales goals by state and line of business.
  • Assist Regional Executive Officer in achievement of revenue goals with an emphasis on maximizing efficiencies in the process. Maintain hit ratio standards, effectively communicate our full spectrum on PolicyOwner experience and diligently work our sales process both internally and externally.
  • Work side by side with Regional Executive Officer to bring the full scope of our PolicyOwner experience to all PolicyOwners in each territory.
  • Collaborate with the National Business Development Direct Sales Executive to accomplish all direct sales premium goals both nationally and regionally.
  • Generate new business pipeline and manage submission flow while effectively communicating to clients and underwriters
  • Work with Regional Executive Officer to maintain the rate adequacy to meet underwriting profitability goals while simultaneously achieving premium persistency targets.
  • Achieve all objectives while working within matrix and direct reporting structures.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of new products and services to the marketplace.
  • Qualifications, Experience Required :

  • College / graduate degree with professional designations such as CIC, CPCU or RPLU
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or related field, with a proven track record of success in driving revenue growth and achieving targets.
  • Active P&C license including non-resident agent in assigned states
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make sound business decisions.
  • Willingness to travel regularly.
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport and effectively communicate with Board members, Senior Management and staff.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and threats.
  • Superior negotiation skills and persuasive public speaking ability.
