Overview Purpose Statement/Position Summary: Assists with the nursing care and preparation of surgical patients. Assists surgeons in the operating Room by passing instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies. Performs job functions according to specific patient age and/or developmental needs. Works under the supervision of the circulating RN in the operating room suite. Demonstrates commitment to a patient and family focused model of care. Employee will follow applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment. Key responsibilities include: Performing job functions according to specific patient age and/or developmental needs. Demonstrating a commitment to a patient and family-focused model of care. Following applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment. Assisting in the safe transfer of patients to and from the operating room (O.R.) bed to gurney. Cleaning the surgical site and applying dressings at the end of the case. Restraining uncooperative or combative patients safely. Additionally, the technician performs indirect patient care activities, such as patient transportation, as needed. Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 2+ years’ experience in acute care hospital Operating Room in a variety of surgical specialties; Surgical technician experience highly preferred. Communicate effectively and tactfully with patients. Education/Licensure/Certification: Completion of Operating room Technician Training Course or equivalent. Current BLS from American Heart Association. Pay Scale Information $61,360.00-$105,966.00 CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
