Overview
Our client, a well-established family law firm, is seeking a Senior Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have significant experience representing clients in complex family and matrimonial matters, including divorce, custody, alimony / spousal support, child support, and related proceedings.
This role requires a compassionate yet assertive advocate who can navigate emotionally charged situations with professionalism, composure, and exceptional communication skills.
- Must be able to commute to the Upstate New York region, specifically the Elizabethtown or Plattsburgh areas.
Key Responsibilities
Represent clients in a variety of family law matters, including prenuptial / postnuptial / cohabitation agreements, divorce, custody, and support proceedings.Conduct investigations, discovery, negotiations, motion advocacy, and trials.Develop and execute legal strategies to achieve optimal outcomes for clients.Serve as the primary client contact, providing clear communication and sound legal advice throughout the process.Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, and judgments.Oversee and mentor associates and paralegals, fostering professional growth and maintaining high performance standards.Utilize firm resources effectively to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient case management.Remain current on all family and matrimonial law developments and CLE requirements.Maintain accurate time entries and case documentation.Qualifications
Admission to the New York State Bar and in good standing.Minimum of 5 years of family law experience , including no fewer than 10 trials .Certified Divorce Specialist™ or willingness to obtain certification.Completion (or willingness to complete) 30 hours of basic mediation training or 15 hours of Collaborative Divorce training .Excellent negotiation, analytical, and courtroom skills.Strong communication and client relationship abilities.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Westlaw / LexisNexis, and Google Workspace; familiarity with CLIO Grow, CLIO Manage, and Family Law Software preferred.Key Performance Indicators
Produce 1,560 billable hours per year (~30 hours weekly).Maintain 100% contemporaneous daily time tracking by 6 : 00 PM EST.Ensure 95% of all projects and tasks are completed by their assigned deadlines each quarter.Achieve 98% client satisfaction rate and adhere to all firm policies and retainer procedures.Why Join
