Job Title : Child Nutrition Specialist

Reports to : Child Nutrition Manager

Dept. : Child Nutrition Services

Exemption Status : Non-Exempt

Primary Purpose :

To prepare and serve the appropriate quantities of food to meet meal requirements. Maintain high standards of quality in food production, sanitation, safety practices and customer service.

Qualifications : Education / Certification :

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Food Service Experience preferred

Special Knowledge / Skills :

  • Ability to understand food preparation and safety instructions
  • Working knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures
  • Ability to operate large and small kitchen equipment and tools
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations
  • Working as part of a team
  • Working with interruptions
  • Major Responsibilities and Duties :

  • Prepare food using standardized recipes, accurate measurements, and correct food preparation techniques. Prepare food according to time schedules to meet deadlines and monitor food quality during preparation.
  • Arranges food and beverage items for the purpose of serving them to students and staff in an efficient and presentable manner.
  • Serve correct food portions using acceptable sanitation techniques in food handling, maintaining correct holding temperatures and utilizing food merchandising techniques. Accurately report amounts of food used and leftovers.
  • Cleans utensils, equipment and building areas as assigned (e.g. carts, dishes, pans, tables, counters, storage, food preparation and serving areas, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining required orderly, clean, and sanitary conditions.
  • Performs cashiering duties (e.g. count money, make correct change, prepare and balance cash registers, prepare deposits, etc.) for the purpose of completing meal transactions, securing funds for reimbursement of costs and reconciling bank deposits.
  • Prepares documentation (i.e. production records, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support of meals prepared and served and / or conveying information.
  • Stocks food, condiments, and supplies for the purpose of maintaining adequate quantities and security of items.
  • Interact positively with students, faculty, administration and others.
  • Foster a harmonious team environment by assisting coworkers with scheduled work demands.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Child Nutrition Manager for the purpose of filling in for other areas due to absenteeism or unexpected special events.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

    Función principal :

    Preparar y servir la cantidad adecuada de alimentos que cumpla con los requerimientos. Mantener altos niveles de calidad en la producción, higiene, prácticas de seguridad y atención al cliente en el manejo de los alimentos.

    Aptitudes : Educación / Certificado :

  • Diploma de Preparatoria o GED
  • De preferencia, experiencia en servicios alimenticios
  • Conocimientos o habilidades es p eci ales :

  • Habilidad para entender la preparación de los alimentos y las instrucciones sobre seguridad
  • Conocimiento del uso del equipo de cocina y de procedimientos en la producción alimenticia
  • Habilidad para utilizar equipo y utensilios de cocina tanto grandes como pequeños
  • Habilidad para realizar operaciones matemáticas básicas
  • Poder trabajar formando parte de un equipo
  • Poder trabajar a pesar de ser interrupido
  • R e s p o n sa b ilidade s y obligaciones principales :

  • Prepara los alimentos haciendo uso de recetas estándares, mediciones precisas y técnicas correctas en la preparación de los alimentos. Prepara los alimentos en función de los horarios para cumplir con lo establecido y vigila la calidad de los alimentos al estarlos preparando.
  • Acomoda tanto la comida como las bebidas de manera que el servicio a alumnos y maestros sea de manera eficiente y presentable.
  • Sirve las porciones correctas de alimento haciendo un uso aceptable de las técnicas de higiene en el manejo de los alimentos, en la conservación correcta del nivel de temperatura y utilizando técnicas de comercialización de los alimentos. Reporta con exactitud las cantidades de comida que se han usado y lo que ha sobrado.
  • Limpia los utensilios, equipo ylas áreas del edificio que se hayan asignado (e.g. carritos, trastes, cacerolas, mesas, mostradores, alacenas, áreas para preparar y para servir los alimentos, etc.) con el propósito de mantener las condiciones requeridas de orden, limpieza y las sanitarias.
  • Realiza funciones de cajera(o) (e.g. cuenta dinero, da el cambio correcto, prepara y hace el balance del dinero en efectivo de la caja, prepara depósitos, etc.) con el propósito de cerrar las transacciones alimenticias, asegurando así los fondos existentes para reembolsar los costos y reconciliar, de esta manera, los depósitos bancarios.
  • Prepara la documentación (i.e. registros de producción, etc.) con el propósito de tener a la disposición la información escrita sobre los alimentos preparados y servidos.
  • Almacena los condimentos y los suministros con el propósito de mantener las cantidades adecuadas y la seguridad de las provisiones.
  • Interactúa de forma positiva con los alumnos, personal docente , directivos y demás.
  • Promueve un ambiente armonioso en el equipo de trabajo, ayudando a las(os) compañeras(os) con las exigencias de algunas tareas programadas.
  • Realiza todas las demás tareas que le haya asignado la jefa de nutrición con el propósito de cubrir alguna otra área por la ausencia de alguien o debido a algún evento especial inesperado.
  • Realiza algunas otras tareas conforme sean solicitadas.
