Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Telemetry position requiring an active AZ or compact RN license and recent acute care experience.
Responsibilities
Work in an acute hospital Med / Surg Telemetry unit with 29 bedsManage general Med / Surg patients requiring telemetry, including titration of Amiodarone and CardizemNurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4 on both days and nightsCentral telemetry monitoring with GE Monitors and assistance from a techNight shift, 12-hour shifts from 7p-7a, with four weekend shifts required every four-week periodFloating required to Med / Surg Tele C5 and B2D unitsElectronic charting with Cerner EMRUnit is supported by charge nurse, unit supervisor, and PCTs / SWAT RNsTwo-shift unit-specific orientation providedResponsible for caring for Med / Surg patients with telemetry monitoring, administering and titrating cardiac medications as neededNaval blue scrubs are requiredAssignment includes one major and one minor holiday coverageFirst to float among staff as needed by censusPass / fail on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on first dayPharmacy and respiratory therapy are available 24 / 7House SWAT nurse supports challenging IV placements; no dedicated IV teamSpectralink phones are provided for communications, with call lights attached to phoneApplicants must pass all testing and orientation requirements to begin assignmentA minimum permanent residence radius of 50 miles is required for candidates in AZRequirements
Active AZ RN or compact license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum of 2 recent years of Med / Surg Telemetry RN experience within the past 6 monthsCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredMust be able to read EKG strips accuratelyMust pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start, with a maximum of 2 attempts allowedMust successfully complete a pass / fail Sim Lab during initial orientationTwo professional references : one from a supervisor within the last 12 months, and one from a supervisor or peer within the last 3 yearsCopy of driver’s license requiredCandidates may not have been directly employed by facilities associated with CommonSpirit within the past yearBenefits
