Role : Senior Snowflake Database Administrator

Location : Cincinnati , OH (Onsite)

Key Responsibilities

Snowflake Administration

  • Manage and administer Snowflake environments across DEV / QA / UAT / PROD.
  • Configure Warehouses, Databases, Schemas, Roles, Resource Monitors, and Storage Integrations.
  • Set up and manage Snowpipes, Streams, Tasks, and Time Travel policies.
  • Monitor and optimize compute usage, credits, warehouse performance, and cost allocation.

Database Administration (Traditional SQL DBs)

  • Manage and optimize Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or DB2 environments.
  • Perform performance tuning, indexing strategy, query optimization, and schema management.
  • Oversee patching, upgrades, backups, recovery, and high availability.

    • Performance Optimization

  • Optimize Snowflake queries using micro-partition pruning, clustering, warehouse scaling, and caching.
  • Troubleshoot slow-running queries and ingestion pipelines using Query Profile & Account Usage views.
  • Improve workload isolation using multi-cluster warehouses and workload segmentation.

    • Security, Governance, and Compliance

  • Implement RBAC, dynamic data masking, row-level security, and column-level protection.
  • Manage access control for users, roles, service accounts, and integrations.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX, PCI, FFIEC, and bank security standards.
  • Support data retention, masking, encryption, lineage, audit logs, and data governance rules.

    • Data Integration & Pipeline Support

  • Work with data engineering teams to troubleshoot ingestion failures and transformation issues.
  • Support ETL / ELT pipelines built using Snowflake, Informatica, DBT, Python, Kafka, Azure Data Factory, or similar tools.
  • Review ingestion patterns, troubleshoot Snowpipe failures, and optimize ELT workflows.

    • Monitoring & Troubleshooting

  • Monitor Snowflake Account Usage for performance & operational issues.
  • Analyze and resolve :

    • o Concurrency / queuing issues

    o Warehouse consumption spikes

    o Storage anomalies

    o Task failures

    o Materialized view refresh issues

    Cloud Deployment & Architecture

  • Collaborate with Cloud and Data Architects to refine Snowflake architecture, security design, and integration patterns.
  • Support migrations from on-prem databases to Snowflake.
  • Design best practices for storage, compute, cost optimization, and workload management.

    • Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with Data Engineers, BI teams, Information Security, Compliance, and Business Stakeholders.
  • Provide documentation, runbooks, and technical guidance.
  • Participate in on-call rotations for critical systems
