Job Title : Machinist

Job Description

The role involves quality control, technical service, and research & development support for both existing and new products to meet customer needs. A strong understanding of CNC machines is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Review samples, drawings, or instructions to understand specifications of output.
  • Ensure that product documentation and paperwork are completed properly and clearly.
  • Take precise measurements of samples.
  • Machine composite and resin specimens.
  • Lay up composite materials.
  • Operate tile saw, drill press, CNC / surface grinder machine, and band saw.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Report test results to the initiator.
  • Interact effectively with chemists, technical service, production, and supervisors.
  • Maintain complete and open lines of communication with other personnel and departments.

Essential Skills

  • Working knowledge of computer-controlled mechanical cutting equipment.
  • Ability to use precision tools such as calipers to take accurate measurements.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and communicating in English.

    • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 1 to 2 years of experience with computer-controlled mechanical cutting equipment (CNC).
  • 1 to 2 years of experience with carbon fiber composites.

    Work Environment

    The work is performed in a lab environment with standard office equipment and moderate noise levels. The role requires standing, walking, grasping, and the ability to lift / move up to 50 pounds. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7AM to 3 : 30PM, at a manufacturing facility in Benicia.

    Job Type & Location

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Benicia, CA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00 / hr.
