This position is school based, working on site within a private special education day school.
Estrella Day School is a private special education school located in Goodyear, Az. We are currently seeking a paraprofessional to join our existing team of friendly teachers and learning coaches. We are a growing school who specialize in providing individualized instruction for each student. We make research-based decisions along with an ABA and Therapeutic approach to enhance our student's education and quality of life. We are looking for someone who is ready to join our exciting team. Our students present with varied diagnoses including but not limited to : Autism, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, and Physical / Intellectual Disabilities. Position Summary :
Under the direct supervision of a certified special education teacher, the paraprofessional will provide support to the teachers by assisting students both academically, behaviorally and with their activities of daily living within the classroom.
Essential Job Duties :
- Work as part of a classroom team to support academic instruction and behavior management / plans.
- Execute lessons as directed by the teacher or classroom lead. These may include supporting independent work, special projects, teaching a lesson to a small group or running discrete trials with students.
- Follow behavioral supports and behavior plans as directed.
- Assist students in participating in classroom routines, transitions and self-care tasks (as necessary)
- Collect data on behavior and academics as directed.
- Implement behavior strategies in alignment with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies).
