Overview We are seeking a full-time IT Database Administrator Intern in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for learning and training to become a Database Administrator for Garmin’s growing information access requirements and learning to work with database servers as well as provide client and cross-platform connectivity. Essential Functions Learn to analyze existing database systems and recommended improvements Learn to configure / administer MySQL, Microsoft SQL and Oracle servers Learn to create / maintain database access systems including tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and triggers Learn to administer database replication and cloning between servers, across Local Area Network and Wide Area Network Tune and optimize database objects Provide support to helpdesk on escalated problems / issues Basic Qualifications Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or equivalent experience Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Demonstrated strong and effective verbal and written communication skills Relevant experience and / or training Other education and / or experiences as required for the specific projects being developed Desired Qualifications Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5) Previous experience working in a team environment Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
