The Floater RN position works similarly to a regular staff RN except the position will float to where there is a need. There can be assignments that are multi-day assignments or multi-week assignments. Must assess individual patient needs from admission through discharge. Incorporates the knowledge of age-specific care as well as normal growth and development to anticipate need. Develops individualized plan of care to address physical, emotional, cultural, and spiritual needs. Educates patient and family members about treatments, procedures, isolation precautions, and other information pertinent to the care of the patient. Completes all required paperwork and documentation. Serves as an ambassador of URMC to provide quality care as part of a short-term assignment. Employees may also be on-call as part of their assignment.

The Floater RN must have a valid GA RN license, at least 5 years experience as a Registered Nurse, and experience in at least two of the following areas : (1) ICU / Critical Care OR (2) OR, AND one other area of nursing such as Med / Surg, ED, L&D, etc. Compensation for this position is higher due to the floating demands of the position.
