Our Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Senior Managing Engineer with expertise in ADAS and/or AVs for our Practice in Phoenix, AZ; Natick, MA; Atlanta, GA; Farmington Hills, MI; Menlo Park, CA; Irvine, CA; or Los Angeles, CA. In this role, you will work as part of a team executing consulting projects that involve the analysis and testing of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS); automated vehicles; vehicle, engine, and component performance (., emissions; fuel economy; noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH); drivability; acceleration; ; federal emissions and fuel economy testing; mechanical failures; safety assessments; federal and state regulations; and the design of consumer and industrial products. You will ultimately have the opportunity to develop your own consulting practice and grow professionally within Exponent.
You will be responsible for
- Managing projects from initiation to completion; communicating project updates to other team members, clients, and administrative staff; ensuring that Exponent meets its deadlines and produces exceptional work product; and identifying business development opportunities
- Developing and managing client relationships
- Conducting project and cost management on casework
- Setting up and executing various test programs including full-scale vehicle tests and component or control systems evaluations
- Continuing to develop specialized expertise in the automotive field such as the design, performance, and testing of existing or emerging automotive technology
- Managing, mentoring, and providing consulting work for junior consulting staff
- Developing and growing the Vehicle Engineering Practice
You will have the following skills and qualifications
- Master's Degree or . in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of work experience in ADAS, autonomous vehicles (AVs), and/or vehicle safety, vehicle and automotive system design, development, testing, and deployment
- Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required
- Ability to generate business and manage client relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interact with managers, engineers, non-technical personnel, and clients and present technical topics in a cogent and comprehensible manner
- Strong leadership and communication skills and experience mentoring junior staff
- Field and/or lab measurement experience with good hands-on skills
- Versatile, team-oriented, willing to work overtime and travel when required
