Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Quality Engineer to join a growing aerospace manufacturing organization. This role has a defined succession plan and is ideal for a self-driven individual who is eager to take on increasing responsibility and demonstrate leadership potential. The selected candidate will work within a tailored development program and be mentored directly by senior quality leadership.
As a key member of the Business Unit Team, the Quality Engineer will be responsible for interpreting customer and internal quality requirements, ensuring compliance with quality systems, and supporting product realization from proposal through production.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in design reviews and review primary documents against customer and regulatory requirements
Define quality, inspection, and special gauge or tooling requirements
Serve as a member of the Change Review Board to assess and approve changes to primary documents
Review manufacturing planning to ensure appropriate inspection and test points are incorporated
Develop inspection plans for receiving, in-process, assembly, final, and test inspection
Design or modify acceptance gaging and approve new gage designs or modifications
Conduct hardware nonconformance investigations and corrective action follow-up
Act as Quality Department representative on the Material Review Board (MRB)
Perform and coordinate First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102
Write technical procedures and Acceptance Test Plans
Conduct internal quality system audits and support AS9100 and customer audits
Perform trend analysis on product issues and corrective actions
Review supplier purchase orders, supplier ratings, and corrective actions
Ensure proper flow-down of customer and regulatory requirements
Participate in Continuous Process Improvement initiatives
Support company and departmental training objectives and mentor junior Quality Engineers
Assume responsibility for customer quality issues on assigned product teams
Perform other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related technical field
Minimum of 3 years of aerospace industry experience in mechanical, electrical, or quality engineering
Prior experience in a leadership or mentorship capacity preferred
Internal or Lead Auditor training preferred
Skills & Qualifications
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (written and verbal)
Solid understanding of AS9100 quality systems and aerospace inspection techniques
Experience with root cause and corrective action methodologies (8D, 5 Why, etc.)
Strong technical writing skills, including procedures and inspection documentation
Proficiency with MS Excel for data analysis, reporting, and trend analysis
Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and build strong team relationships
Leadership mindset with interest in long-term growth and advancement
