Under the supervision of the Dean and in collaboration with the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate and Clinical Education, the Director of Undergraduate and Dual-Degree Advisement will perform a variety of advising, administrative, and engagement functions to assist in the operation of the School of Health and Medical Sciences. This individual will advise and oversee student performance who are enrolled in the physical therapy and physician assistant dual degree programs that are offered in collaboration with the College of Arts and Sciences, as well as internal transfer students (from within Seton Hall) and external transfer students who are entering the Bachelor of Science in Interprofessional Health Sciences degree program. They will provide information and assistance concerning academic requirements, curricula, registration and course scheduling, and conveyance of related policies and procedures. The Director will liaise with other University offices and their respective contacts (, Center for Academic Success, Transfer Office, Pre-professional Advising Center, Office of the Registrar, etc.), Graduate and Undergraduate Program Directors and other members of the Office of the Dean within the School of Health and Medical Sciences. The Director will maintain appropriate records of advisement events which may include the use of local documents that are specific to degree programs, and University-wide web-based platforms that track academic progress and degree audits. They will also participate in recruitment and engagement events and interact with prospective and admitted students about degree programs and their expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. This individual will advise students in the physical therapy and physician assistant dual degree programs that are offered in collaboration with the College of Arts and Sciences, as well as internal transfer students (from within Seton Hall) and external transfer students who are entering the Bachelor of Science in Interprofessional Health Sciences degree program. They will provide information and assistance concerning academic requirements, curricula, registration and course scheduling, and conveyance of related policies and procedures. These tasks will also include tracking students and ensuring that they continue to meet program progression requirements and admission criteria for the School of Health and Medical Sciences graduate degree program into which they will transition. They will meet with every student in the dual-degree track on no less than a semesterly basis starting at the end of the freshman year through the end of the undergraduate phase of their degree program. They will meet with incoming transfer students (both internal and external) to create an initial course schedule and facilitate the handoff of advisement responsibilities to the program advisor for the Interprofessional Health Sciences program.

This individual will liaise with other University offices and their respective contacts (, Center for Academic Success, Transfer Office, Pre-professional Advising Center, Office of the Registrar, etc.), and Graduate and Undergraduate Program Directors and other members of the Office of the Dean within the School of Health and Medical Sciences.
This may include acting as a referral for students from other campus support services, advisors, or other faculty/staff members as it relates to curricular requirements and obligations for the degree programs. Such engagement will be expected to broaden the student advisement experience and create an inclusive and supportive environment.
3. This individual will maintain student records pertaining to academic advisement services and initiate and process paperwork which may include the use of local documents that are specific to degree programs, and University-wide web-based platforms that track academic progress and degree audits. Accordingly, this individual will prepare materials for dissemination to students, administrators and program directors related to advisement strategy and provide data collection and analytic support assessment to measure effectiveness and student satisfaction with current programs and events. They will help in the review of the University Catalog (as it pertains to programs in this portfolio), contribute to annual reports, and provide data, as needed, for accreditation submissions which may require the use of statistical programs.
4. This individual will participate in recruitment and engagement events (, open houses, school receptions, webinar, and other structured activities) that are designed to increase student applications to the dual degree programs, provide guidance to prospective transfer students (internal and external). Such programming will require the individual to communicate with prospective and admitted students, and perhaps their families, about our degree programs and the required pathways.
