Primary Duties

  • Transport incoming mail / packages to x-ray machine for security screening.
  • Transfer mail equipment from loading dock to Mail Center for sorting.
  • Sort and prepare mail for distribution.
  • Deliver and collect mail to designated mail stops twice a day.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain a record of overnight packages and expenditures for incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Prepare and batch incoming mail for digitization.
  • Deliver accountable mail items to appropriate mailstop locations.
  • Follow HAZMAT procedures for handling potentially hazardous mail.
  • Process incoming accountable mail items utilizing SendSuite tracking system.
  • Process outgoing mail via FedEx and USPS on the SendSuite Live system.
  • Participate in all training required by funding source(s) as required.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

    • Qualifications : Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

  • High School Diploma, or General Educational Development (GED) required.
  • One year experience in related field preferred.

    • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be able to work well with people internally and externally at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to perform routine tasks on various classes of mail.
  • Ability to work on repetitive tasks for long periods of time with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to operate various mail processing machines.
  • Good reading and writing skills.
  • Basic knowledge of various delivery couriers and different classes of mail.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to operate computer using Microsoft Office.
  • Basic typing skills.

    • Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk, and sit.
  • The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
