Position Overview
The Radiology Physician provides Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology services to Veterans at the Lexington VA. This role delivers high-quality clinical care consistent with the American College of Radiology (ACR) Practice Parameters, VA policies, and VHA directives. The physician must be capable of providing full-spectrum radiological interpretation and procedural services and supporting multidisciplinary teams through consultations and communication of results.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Patient Care (Approx. 95%)
-Provide professional onsite radiology services including:
-General Radiology
-Fluoroscopy
-CT
-MRI
-Ultrasound
-Interventional Radiology procedures
-Interpret imaging studies and document findings in the VA electronic health record (EHR) in accordance with VHA Directive 1907.01.
-Communicate urgent and critical results per VHA Directive 1088 (Communicating Test Results).
-Review and respond to imaging consults/orders; provide clinical consultation to referring clinicians.
-Perform post-procedure evaluation and follow-up.
-Maintain productivity requirements of 27 wRVUs per day / 7,020 annually.
-Ensure compliance with all VA and national patient safety standards.
Administrative Duties (Approx. 5%)
-Participate in Radiologist meetings (monthly), Radiation Safety (quarterly), and required peer reviews (approx. 4 hrs/month).
-Complete QM/PI documentation, incident reports, and safety reporting as required.
-Attend staff meetings and quality improvement activities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
-MD or DO with completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Radiology.
-Board Certification by the American Board of Radiology.
-Full, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.
-Eligible for VA credentialing & privileging under VHA Directives 1100.20 & 1100.21.
-Documented technical proficiency in all imaging modalities and interventional procedures required by the VA.
-Must meet English language proficiency requirements.

-Annual VA-mandated clinical trainings (Active Threat, Patient Abuse, Suicide Prevention, HIPAA/Privacy, MST, Radiation Safety, MRI Safety Level 1, infection control, etc.)
