Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg position in Michigan caring for a diverse medical and surgical patient population with float and weekend requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a 37-bed Med / Surg / Oncology unit in a hospital setting
  • Care for patients with general medical diagnoses as well as gastrointestinal, urological, and gynecological surgical cases
  • Patient population includes ortho / neurovascular, cardio / pulmonary, GI, urology, hysterectomy, and mastectomy cases
  • Night shifts (3x12 hours), 19 : 00–07 : 30
  • Staffing ratio is typically 1 : 5-6 on nights; may flex to 1 : 8 with LPN support
  • Floating to other Med / Surg units is required, typically once per week
  • Every other weekend shifts required
  • Uses a collaborative team with RNs, LPNs, and Techs
  • Care for a broad range of medical and post-surgical patients across specialties
  • RN will work collaboratively with a variety of healthcare staff including LPNs and Techs
  • Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments
  • No block scheduling is guaranteed or approved
  • No holiday requests are permitted; dates may be discussed with the manager
  • Flu vaccination proof required; exemption requests must be submitted within 48 hours of signing
  • Annual orientation modules are required and completed during onboarding
  • Locals are accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
  • Previous staff may return after 6 months

    • Requirements

  • Active Michigan RN license, or pending license with estimated time of arrival
  • Current BLS certification (AHA), pending is acceptable with willingness to obtain
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Med / Surg RN experience required; 2 years preferred
  • Must be available for the entire orientation week
  • References required for consideration
