Overview
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Litigation Legal Assistant , preferably with some real estate experience to support their attorneys in all phases of litigation and real estate–related matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of real estate documents and procedures, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
Litigation Support
- Assist attorneys with drafting, formatting, and proofreading pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and correspondence.
- Conduct legal and factual research related to real estate disputes, title issues, landlord-tenant matters, boundary conflicts, easements, and other property-related legal matters.
- Organize, maintain, and update case files (electronic and physical), including real estate–specific documentation.
- Support attorneys in preparation for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials.
- Coordinate service of process, filings, and e-filings in state and federal courts.
Real Estate Document & File Management
Review, organize, and track real estate documents such as deeds, leases, purchase agreements, closing packets, title reports, surveys, zoning documentation, and escrow materials.Assist with the preparation and management of real estate transaction files when needed.Liaise with title companies, brokers, property managers, surveyors, and municipal offices.Prepare and compile exhibits, including real estate maps, plats, and title histories, for litigation or hearings.Client & Third-Party Coordination
Serve as a point of contact for clients, witnesses, experts, real estate professionals, and vendors.Schedule meetings, property inspections, appraisals, depositions, and court reporters.Draft and send routine correspondence and follow-up communications.Administrative Support
Manage attorney calendars and deadlines, including filing deadlines and real estate-related milestones.Assist with billing entries, timekeeping, and client invoicing.Perform general office duties such as scanning, copying, mailing, and file organization.Qualifications
Education : Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred; paralegal certificate a plus.Experience : 1–3+ years as a legal assistant with experience in litigation and real estate matters (transactional, litigation, or both).Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal practice management / e-filing systems.Familiarity with real estate documents, title issues, and recording procedures.Excellent grammar, writing, and proofreading skills.Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to prioritize and meet deadlines.High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.Preferred Skills
Experience with e-discovery platforms (e.g., Relativity, Everlaw, Logikcull).Knowledge of local property records systems and court filing procedures.Ability to read and interpret legal descriptions, plats, leases, and other property-related documents.Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork mentality.Work Environment
The role involves close collaboration with attorneys, staff, clients, and real estate professionals while maintaining a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
