The Salisbury VA Health Care System is seeking a dedicated, full-time Psychiatrist to join our esteemed team at the Kernersville Health Care Center. Functions and Duties of Psychiatrists :

• Perform and teach psychiatric services to residents and provide educational experiences for other healthcare trainees.
• Assess individuals for psychiatric care using accepted protocols, including history gathering, mental status exams, and medical evaluations.
• Provide diagnostic descriptions to guide treatment and deliver psychiatric care within the scope of their privileges.
• Be responsible for all psychiatric care aspects, including availability for emergency interventions during on-call hours.

Requirements

U.S. Citizenship :  Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is impossible to recruit qualified citizens, in accordance with VA Policy.

Education :  A Doctor of Medicine degree or an equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine is required.

Licensure :  Candidates must possess a current, complete, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state, territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

Residency :  Completion of a residency program in an accredited core specialty

Board Certification :  Candidates must be board-certified or board eligible.
