Attendance Specialist :
Bishop OConnell High School has an immediate opening for an Attendance Specialist. This is a 10-month non-exempt full-time hourly position with hours from 7 : 00 AM to 3 : 00 PM. Under the general supervision of the Attendance Manager the Attendance Specialist is tasked with managing and monitoring school wide attendance data and other clerical functions in a secondary school setting. The specialist also performs a variety of functions regarding the verification of student absences the maintenance of attendance records and the preparation of required attendance reports; and to do other related work as required. The responsibilities for the job are as follows :
Essential Duties
- Performs clerical activities and functions pertaining to a school site attendance record management system (PowerSchool).
- Maintains accurate student attendance records.
- Collects daily and period attendance electronically.
- Assists students by receiving absence verification documents and re-admits them to class activities.
- Posts student absences and clears absences by reviewing parental notes and through telephone contacts.
- Collects and files student notes concerning attendance and medical circumstances.
- Works in conjunction with the Student Life Office to refer students who are not adhering to attendance policy.
- Prepares or assists in the preparation and distribution of correspondence regarding excessive student absences.
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Diocese.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.
- Assists with all office duties as needed.
- Demonstrates professionalism in conduct demeanor and work habits.
- Communicates effectively and responds to messages in a timely manner.
- Issues documents and forms to students as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
