Warehouse Supervisor

Position Summary

The Supervisor oversees day-to-day operations, leads and develops associates, and ensures safety, quality, and productivity standards are met. The role drives continuous improvement, maintains compliance with SOPs, and delivers reliable shift hand-offs to sustain operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Provide clear direction, set priorities, and coach associates.
  • Conduct daily shift briefings and ensure mandatory hand-offs between shifts.
  • Address performance and attendance issues promptly with documented follow-up.

Operational Management

  • Monitor workflow, allocate resources, and meet daily throughput goals.
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs and standard work; escalate barriers early.
  • Track KPIs (productivity, quality, dock-to-stock, on-time departure) and execute corrective actions.

    • Safety & Compliance

  • Model and enforce safety policies; perform routine safety walks.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., CTPAT).
  • Train associates on safe equipment use (e.g., clamp trucks, pallet jacks).

    • Communication

  • Maintain open dialogue with leadership; provide end-of-shift hand-off notes.
  • Report incidents, constraints, and space limitations to management in real time.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners (Receiving, Shipping, Inventory).

    • Continuous Improvement

  • Identify waste and process gaps; propose and implement improvements.
  • Participate in Kaizen / 5S and audit readiness activities.
  • Standardize best practices across facilities as applicable.

    • Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate / Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in logistics / warehouse operations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with WMS, MS Office, and basic data reporting.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

    • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand / walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in warehouse conditions and around material handling equipment.

    • Schedule

  • Full-time; 3rd shift with required overtime during peak periods.
  • Mandatory end-of-shift hand-off; first shift may be required to stay beyond scheduled hours to complete hand-offs.

    • CTPAT Responsibilities

    Supervisors are accountable for maintaining compliance with Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) minimum security criteria and iDC Logistics site-specific SOPs. The following expectations apply :

  • Verify inbound / outbound trailer integrity, including seal application and verification; document seal numbers in the hand-off log.
  • Ensure dock areas, yard, and staging zones remain secure; challenge and report unauthorized persons immediately.
  • Conduct and document routine security sweeps (e.g., start-of-shift, end-of-shift) and escalate any discrepancies.
  • Train associates on CTPAT awareness (e.g., recognizing anomalies, reporting suspicious activity) and track completion.
  • Maintain clean desk and controlled-access practices for shipping documents and labels; store sensitive paperwork per SOP.
  • Support visitor / contractor controls (ID verification, sign-in / out, escorts) and ensure carriers comply with site rules.
  • Participate in audit readiness : maintain up-to-date SOPs, logs, and corrective actions; close findings within agreed timelines.
