Description :
Operate CNC Mills, Lathes, and assist in assembly departments.Basic knowledge in inspection using calipers, micrometers, and height gage.Ability to read drawings and load / unload machines.Background in drawings, BOMs, and hand tool abilities for assembly.Summary :
Responsible for programming, setting up, and operating NC machines to fabricate metallic components.Program, read blueprints / CAD drawings, adjust offsets, and change inserts.Change out jobs with appropriate tooling, set-up, and qualify first article parts.Support production requirements for all work cells.Prioritize daily work based on Safety, Quality, and Productivity requirements.Duties and Responsibilities :
Always prioritize safety and use all personal protective equipment as required.Ensure equipment and forklifts function properly; shutdown in unsafe conditions.Complete Red Flag Condition cards and work orders for equipment repairs.Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and specifications for setup requirements.Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions for machining.Select, align, and secure fixtures, tools, and materials on machines.Calculate and set controls for machining factors or input commands for machine control media.Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions and adjust as required.Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications and drawings.Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy.Verify dimensions and alignment using calipers, micrometers, and indicators.Install machined replacement parts and test functionality.Operate welding equipment to cut or weld parts.Develop specifications and draw sketches for fabrication.Collaborate with engineers, production personnel, and others to resolve issues.Update inventory systems and prepare Material Tags for non-conforming parts.Design and build tools for efficient manufacturing.Follow all company personnel policies and process procedures.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications :
Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and four years machinist experience; or six years related experience / training; or equivalent combination.Knowledge of CAD software applications and CNC programming experience.Ability to read blueprints and understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Ability to work unsupervised.Ability to make or modify tooling and / or fixturing to machine parts.Strategic and creative thinking for issue analysis and solution creation.Ability to write, edit, and troubleshoot programs at the machine control.Mechanical aptitude; use a variety of hand tools and basic power tools.Ability to MIG weld, preferred.Respond positively to feedback and implement process changes as needed.Work effectively in a fast-paced environment.High-level interpersonal skills to meet production demands.Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to contribute actively.Effectively work with cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.Good written and verbal communication skills.Experience with Microsoft Excel and formal ERP systems, or ability to learn new software.Physical Demands :
Regularly stand for 6 hours at a time with minimal breaks.Regularly lift / move up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.Operate machinery, including CNCs.Wear safety glasses, ear plugs, steel-toe shoes with metatarsals, and a face shield.Be on-site during scheduled shift to perform duties and responsibilities.Daily face-to-face interaction with employees on the production line.Work Environment :
Work in an ambient temperature production environment (60-90 degrees F).Exposure to loud noise.
