Job Summary :

In this role, you’ll oversee the preparation and presentation of coffee products, ensuring they align with our high standards. Lead the Starbucks department team to enhance sales and customer service, achieving profitability targets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with upper management to schedule, guide, and delegate tasks to department team members.
  • Manage the Starbucks department independently, focusing exclusively on its operations.
  • Analyze historical sales data, promotional activities, and inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels.
  • Monitor profit and loss, sales, shrink, and staffing metrics, providing informative summaries to upper management.
  • Enhance sales performance and financial results while maintaining high standards of product quality and public relations.
  • Implement quality control and food safety protocols, including proper stocking and rotation of dated products.
  • Manage all aspects of product preparation, including preparation, packaging, and labeling.
  • Supervise the team responsible for baking and serving food along with coffee products.
  • Inspect inventory upon delivery, ensuring accuracy in orders and related documentation.
  • Drive sales through suggestive selling techniques and visually appealing product arrangements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to company safety initiatives.
  • Deliver excellent customer service by being friendly, addressing inquiries, and taking orders both in person and over the phone.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of coffee department operations.
  • Proficient in the use of in-store ordering systems and inventory management practices.
  • Ability to lead and inspire team members effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with customers and team members.
  • Capacity to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Competent in reading and operating digital equipment, meters, dials, and calibrated scales.
  • Safe operation of tools and equipment, including espresso machines and commercial ovens.
  • Skilled with both precision and non-precision hand tools.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technology and methods.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Vigilance to identify potential hazards and take appropriate action or report them promptly.
  • Education, Experience, and Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or GED, with a minimum of two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be 21 or older to drive for company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.
  • Food Safety Manager certification is required.
  • Completion of the Barista Basics Training Program and additional Starbucks leadership training is essential.
  • Physical Demands :

  • Constant use of close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and focus.
  • Frequent verbal communication and listening required.
  • Regular use of hands for various tasks such as reaching, touching, and handling.
  • Frequent standing or walking is mandatory.
  • Repetitive hand movements will be required.
  • Occasionally bending, kneeling, squatting, or stooping will be necessary.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver objects up to 40 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally.
  • Attendance at work is critical.
  • Work Context and Environment :

  • This role is primarily conducted in a retail store environment.
  • Frequent exposure to hot surfaces is common.
  • Regular encounters with extreme cold and heat conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to wet or slippery surfaces.
  • May work with cleaning agents when necessary.
  • Noise levels can vary.
