Job Title: Systems Engineer 3 – EA-18G ProgramsJob DescriptionThis role supports EA-18G Growler Block 1 and Block 2 programs as part of a software-focused systems engineering team. You will analyze and contribute to software system designs, support embedded software testing, and ensure rigorous verification and validation of complex avionics systems. The position is fully onsite at Naval Air Warfare Center Point Mugu and a Southern California office, working closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile and DevSecOps environment.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and contribute to software system designs for EA-18G Growler Block 1 and Block 2 programs.
- Understand and document interfaces between multiple subsystems, including interpretation of Interface Control Documents and system architecture documentation.
- Collaborate with systems engineers to interpret Interface Control Documents, Software Requirements Specifications, and system architecture artifacts.
- Develop clear, detailed test procedures to support requirements verification and validation activities.
- Perform validation activities such as module-level integration testing and regression testing for embedded software systems.
- Conduct integration, functional, regression, and performance testing on embedded software systems in a complex hardware/software environment.
- Analyze test results, log defects accurately, and collaborate with developers and cross-functional teams to drive issue resolution.
- Apply requirements-based testing practices and maintain traceability from system requirements to test cases using IBM DOORS or an equivalent requirements management system.
- Participate as an active member of an Agile team, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, test iteration cycles, retrospectives, and related DevSecOps CI/CD pipeline activities.
- Participate in and contribute to peer reviews, critical milestone reviews, walkthroughs, audits, and technical interchange meetings.
- Design and lead comprehensive test strategies, including system-level integration, performance, and compliance testing, as needed.
- Conduct validation activities, assess test metrics, and ensure verification results meet software requirements and stakeholder expectations.
- Analyze complex test data, lead root-cause investigations, and coordinate defect remediation across cross-functional teams.
- Manage multiple tasks and priorities, meet established deadlines, and work independently within defined scopes of work.
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with customers, internal sites, and other technical disciplines to support cross-functional collaboration.
Essential Skills- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) with 5 years of experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM field with 3 years of experience.
- Ability to write clear, concise functional and technical requirements.
- Hands-on experience conducting integration, functional, regression, and performance testing on embedded software systems.
- Proficiency with requirements-based testing and maintaining traceability from system requirements to test cases in IBM DOORS or an equivalent requirements management system.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and subsystem interactions, including experience with Interface Control Documents and system architecture.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including sprint planning and test iteration cycles.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipeline activities.
- Strong analytical skills for root-cause analysis and defect tracking in complex embedded systems.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to support cross-functional and customer-facing collaboration.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently on defined scopes of work.
- Experience participating in formal reviews, walkthroughs, and audits.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $80.00/hr.
