Job Summary
The Data Analyst will be the analyst for a cluster randomized trial of a food security intervention among adults living with HIV. In this role, they will conduct data management and analysis with a moderate degree of independence, demonstrating good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions under the guidance of senior statistical experts. The Data Analyst will use research professional skills for multiple areas of inquiry, displaying intermediate understanding of statistical analyses and research software programming techniques. The Data Analyst will contribute to conducting a range of intermediate programming, analytic and coordination activities that require some prior scientific training and related experience.
- Content areas will primarily cover quantitative data management and analysis, which requires prior training and knowledge. They should have both academic and some job-related experience working in Stata, R, or similar software to accomplish data management and analytic tasks; as well as REDCap.
- The Data Analyst will have primary responsibility for creating timely, accurate weekly reports summarizing study progress, including study retention reports, intervention engagement reports, tracking adverse events, and others as needed. They will help develop and have primary responsibility for implementing data quality assurance processes.
- The Data Analyst will implement pre-analysis preparation of data, including data cleaning, coding, and development of scales and testing of internal reliability, proactively ensuring high data quality. They will be responsible for assembling study datasets for analysis and reporting purposes, conducting standard procedures to ensure these datasets are complete and accurate.
- The Data Analyst should be moderately familiar with advanced statistical procedures used to work with multivariable and longitudinal data for both observational and intervention studies (e.g., RCTs) and be prepared to further develop these on the job. The Data Analyst should be able and willing to take an active role in discussions of the pros and cons of these various strategies in a collaborative environment, considering both academic rigor and real-world analytic needs, and contribute to recommendations for statistical approaches.
- For all analyses, the Data Analyst will contribute to the interpretation of study results and develop recommendations based on study findings in collaboration with research team members. The individual will also make independent contributions at an intermediate level to writing both grants and manuscripts for publication.
- The Data Analyst will also contribute to data-related study coordination and administration tasks, including providing accurate, user-friendly data tables and other necessary materials for progress reports, DSMB meetings, and other reporting purposes.
- The Data Analyst will interface with academic and / or community research partners around data-related issues and topics. Thus, in addition to the skills required for the analytic tasks, strong interpersonal and communication skills and a collaborative nature are needed. The Data Analyst will be expected to exercise independent judgement to make decisions in areas that fall within standard guidelines and practices.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $34.48 - $74.04 (Hourly Rate).
