As a Program Support Specialist with KVC Nebraska’s Shared Living program, you will connect people to caring Shared Living Providers and support them in building meaningful lives in their communities.

Position Summary

The Program Support Specialist plays a key, outward‑facing role in KVC’s Shared Living program. You will :

  • Match individuals with intellectual and / or developmental disabilities with certified Shared Living homes
  • Support Shared Living Providers and the DD Team throughout the intake, placement, and ongoing service process
  • Manage important documentation and financial tracking related to representative payee accounts
  • Serve as a positive ambassador for KVC with community partners, referral sources, and providers

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education

  • High school diploma required
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field preferred
  • Experience

  • Minimum of two years of experience in Human Services or a related field
  • Two or more years of experience in one or more of the following preferred :
  • Developmental Disabilities

  • Child Welfare
  • Juvenile Justice
  • Mental Health assessment / treatment
  • Payment processing or financial tracking
  • Certification / Licensure

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance
  • Preferred Skills & Competencies

  • Maintains strict confidentiality in oral and written communication
  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, databases); completes documentation on time
  • Strong organizational skills; able to prioritize multiple demands and meet deadlines
  • Proactive problem‑solving and sound judgment
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication
  • Collaborative mindset; builds positive working relationships with internal teams and external partners
  • Ability to stay focused, calm, and effective under pressure
  • Key Responsibilities

    Shared Living Matching & Placement

  • Match Individuals with Intellectual / Developmental Disabilities with certified Shared Living homes
  • Coordinate placements and ensure compliance with state regulations and KVC policies
  • Recruit, interview, and support Shared Living Providers; complete DHHS home studies
  • Serve as the primary contact for Shared Living Providers during intake and placement
  • Coordinate and attend pre‑placement visits between participants and providers
  • Maintain accurate tracking systems and provider profiles (including Canva‑based profiles for referral sources)
  • Relationship‑Building & Collaboration

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with referral sources and community partners
  • Work closely with Shared Living Specialists and DD‑specific educators to support placements and ongoing services
  • Attend at least two annual KVC‑hosted events to engage and retain Shared Living Providers
  • Financial & Documentation Responsibilities

  • Manage representative payee accounts, including :
  • Communication with Social Security and Medicaid

  • Organizing direct deposits and eligibility renewals
  • Reconcile receipts and monthly ledgers; send quarterly updates to participants and guardians
  • Ensure all managed accounts meet Social Security, banking, and KVC guidelines
  • Complete and maintain accurate documentation and records as required

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program quality and participant success
