Overview
This position is part of a team that is responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll for 900+ employees, totaling $78 million annually, in compliance with applicable personnel policies, labor contracts and state and federal regulations using Excel, Automated Payroll and Crew Scheduling Systems. Researches and resolves discrepancies related to the payroll area. Responds to information requests and compiles data for mandatory reporting requirements.
Monday thru Friday plus overtime and double pay on holidays.
Essential Duties
1. Enter payroll exceptions into Trapeze Scheduling and PeopleSoft.
2. Validate Trapeze Scheduling system by reconciling data reports, using knowledge of labor contract and ability to analyze data.
3. Complete payroll processes accurately and timely. Responsible for assigned Operations Payroll from start to finish.
4. Ensure absences entered by Employee Staffing Scheduling are correct according to the labor contract, personnel policy, and labor laws.
5. Research and responds to employee questions. Research any pay discrepancies, make corrections, and document changes.
6. Validate timekeeping calculation results for accuracy and compliance with the labor contract, personnel policy, and labor laws.
7. Research questionable items and obtains required approval before entry. Validate all variances. Verifies appropriate signatures exist on necessary documents.
8. Performs other Payroll duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
1. Three years increasingly responsible payroll experience. Associate degree (AS or AA) or a two-year technical certificate in accounting or related field will account for 18 months of experience. Union payroll experience helpful.
2. Must be able to work Monday thru Friday with double pay on holidays as the regular work schedule and be available to work extended hours with overtime as needed to meet strict payroll deadlines.
Knowledge Requirements
1. General accounting principles and payroll processing.
2. General knowledge of payroll related labor laws, such as FMLA and FLSA.
Skill Requirements
1. Experience with automated payroll systems.
2. Written and oral communication.
3. Advanced use of Microsoft Excel.
4. Meeting strict payroll deadlines.
5. Performing arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy.
6. Work effectively with managers and employees at all levels of the corporation.
Working Conditions
90-100% of your work will be performed in an office environment and requires you to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. You will be required to move throughout and between different office buildings. You may also need to complete tasks in noisy environments.
