We are seeking an experienced Virtualization Administrator to manage and optimize enterprise virtualization environments. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability across production and test/development environments.
This role requires deep technical expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to support infrastructure upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage and maintain VMware vSphere and Hyper-V clusters in production and test/development environments
Build, configure, test, and maintain new virtual machines
Monitor virtualization environments and proactively detect and resolve issues
Fine-tune VM configurations to optimize performance and resource utilization
Participate in infrastructure capacity planning initiatives
Develop and maintain provisioning tools, standards, and procedures
Document processes, configurations, and operational procedures
Propose and implement VM provisioning and optimization solutions
Evaluate and apply ESXi host upgrades, version updates, and security patches
Develop and execute test plans for installations, upgrades, and repairs, including rollback plans
Provide occasional after-hours support as required
Collaborate effectively with system owners and cross-functional teams
5+ years of hands-on experience administering enterprise VMware and Hyper-V environments
Strong expertise in:
VMware vSphere
ESXi
vCenter
DRS
HA
vMotion
Storage migration
Experience with P2V and V2V migrations and virtualization lifecycle management
Knowledge of SAN/NAS storage systems, virtual networking, and performance tuning
Experience with VMware Horizon or VDI environments
Familiarity with backup, disaster recovery, and replication technologies
Basic to intermediate Unix/Linux system administration experience
Experience with automation and scripting (PowerShell, PowerCLI)
Strong monitoring, capacity planning, and performance optimization skills
Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
