Job description

Assistant Director Of Faculty Development

Coordinate and implement faculty development programs and initiatives that support teaching excellence and professional growth. Oversee the Master Teacher Program, facilitate faculty learning opportunities, and assist with the planning and coordination of faculty-focused training and professional development events that promote evidence-based instructional practices and continuous improvement in teaching and learning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and resources to faculty seeking professional development opportunities and instructional support.
  • Coordinate the implementation and administration of the Master Teacher Program, including recruiting, selecting, and onboarding of cohort participants, facilitating cohort seminars, monitoring participant progress, providing guidance and support to the participants, and evaluating capstone projects and program outcomes.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of Faculty Development Days, New Faculty Academy, and other faculty-focused professional development events, including the facilitation of selected sessions.
  • Manage faculty mentoring and engagement initiatives that support new faculty and promote collaborative learning.
  • Serve as the co-chair for the Faculty Development Advisory Committee, facilitating meetings and supporting planning efforts related to faculty development programming.
  • Organize and facilitate faculty development programs (spotlight series, communities of practice, reading groups, observation connections, etc.) designed to support effective teaching practices and instructional innovation.
  • Generate reports on participation, completion rates, and program outcomes for faculty development initiatives.
  • Collect participant feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of faculty development programs and identify additional training needs.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of faculty development resources, guides, and training materials.
  • Maintain the accuracy and completeness of faculty development information on internal websites or learning platforms.
  • Research emerging trends in higher education teaching and professional development to inform future programming.

Supplemental Functions

  • Perform all duties in accordance with college policies, procedures, and core values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Little physical effort required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in higher education teaching

Preferred

  • Master's degree preferred
  • Experience facilitating workshops or training sessions
  • Experience designing or facilitating faculty development or professional learning programs in higher education

Hiring Minimum: $93,629.00

Compensation is determined based on experience.
