Coastal Machine & Supply is an AS9100-certified precision contract manufacturer specializing in large, complex turning and 5-axis milling for the Defense, Space, and Oil & Gas industries.

Long-cycle work, tight tolerances, expensive material, and parts that matter.

We are hiring machinists at every level for night shift.

Schedule:

• Mon–Thu, 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM Shift Differential: 15% Premium Classification: Hourly, non-exempt, overtime eligible Benefits: 100% Employer paid Health Insurance For Employee, 50% Employer paid Health Insurance for Employee's family, PTO to start, Vision, Dental, & Life available, 3% IRA Match What You'll Run Coastal runs four platform families: Platform What it is here CNC Lathes Large-envelope turning, long-cycle, heavy material Mill-Turns Multi-tasking turn/mill centers — sub-spindle, live tooling, B-axis. 5-Axis Mills Simultaneous and 3+2 machining of complex geometry 3/4-Axis Mills Prismatic and rotary work Depth on one family matters more to us than surface familiarity with all four.
• Mill-Turn and 5-Axis setup experience carries a premium.
• Work orders, routings, and setup documentation are managed in ProShop.
• Machine performance is monitored through Datanomix.
• Four Levels.
• One Application.
• At Coastal, your level and your machines are tracked separately.
• Your level reflects how deep your capability goes.
• Your qualifications record which platform families you're signed off to run.
• Adding a platform is a new qualification, not a promotion.
• You advance a level by demonstrating capability, not by putting in time.
• CNC Machinist I Runs established repeat parts on proven programs to a documented setup sheet.
• Loads and unloads, adjusts offsets, deburrs, and performs in-process inspection to the plan.
• You bring shop math, precision measurement (calipers, micrometers, indicators), and the discipline to follow a setup sheet exactly.
• Machining school, certificate, or comparable hands-on experience.
• CNC Machinist II Sets up and runs independently on at least one platform family.
• Handles repeat and moderately complex multi-operation work in stainless and alloy steels.
• Works to GD&T, establishes tool and work offsets, and makes floor-level program corrections within defined scope.
• Diagnoses tool wear, finish, and chatter, and holds tolerance across a full run without support.
• Typically 3+ years of CNC setup and operation.

CNC Machinist III Owns the work without a proven process:

• first-run parts, new revisions, tight-tolerance geometry, and hard metals such as titanium, Inconel, and high-nickel alloys.
• Sets up and validates first-article setups without assistance and works unsupervised.
• When a job goes wrong, figures out whether the problem is the setup or the program and backs it up with evidence.
• Finds the root cause and proposes the process fix rather than the workaround.
• Can carry a cell's machines alone when coverage is thin.
• Typically 5+ years, with a track record of first-run work on hard metals.
• Sr.
• CNC Machinist Everything a III does, across two or more platform families, plus a standing obligation to build the bench.
• Serves as a named trainer, signs off other machinists' qualifications, and partners with programmers on new part introduction.
• Attends first article on new programs and gets called in on the problems nobody else has solved.
• We keep very few of these seats on purpose.
• Sr. placement is confirmed after a demonstration period on our floor.
• Typically 7+ years, with demonstrated setup depth on Mill-Turn or Multi-Axis and a history of training other machinists.
• CNC Machinist III and Sr.
• CNC Machinists are eligible for Cell Lead assignments.
• Required at Every Level High school diploma or equivalent Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Proficiency with precision measurement tools Reliable attendance on a night schedule Must be a U.S.
• Person as defined under ITAR Preferred Aerospace, defense, or oil & gas machining background Experience in an AS9100 or ISO 9001 environment GD&T interpretation per current ASME Y14.5 How We Operate Every machinist at Coastal has the authority to stop a job on a quality concern, on any shift, without waiting for approval.

Physical Demands & Environment Active machine shop:

• extended standing, lifting up to 50lbs, exposure to noise, coolant, and metal chips.
• Hearing and eye protection required on the floor.
• Steel-toe footwear required.
