Role Overview

Climeaction is recruiting a Measurement & Verification (M&V) Engineer to join the Energy Efficiency team, reporting to the Director of Energy Efficiency. The role is responsible for measuring and verifying the energy savings delivered by manufacturing clients across Ireland and converting those savings into energy credits under the SEAI Energy Efficiency Obligation Scheme (EEOS).

The successful candidate will work directly with manufacturing companies and their site engineering teams, and with obligated parties and SEAI, to ensure energy savings are calculated, evidenced and reported to the standard required to authenticate and claim EEOS credits.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver measurement and verification (M&V) activities, including IPMVP-aligned option selection, baseline development and post-implementation measurement, for energy efficiency projects at manufacturing sites.

• Prepare M&V plans and reports that meet SEAI's EEOS guidance for authenticating and claiming energy credits.

• Calculate ex-ante and ex-post energy savings and support the notarisation of credits with obligated parties and SEAI.

• Work with site engineering teams to gather metering data, utility bills and process data required for savings calculations.

• Review and quality-check savings calculations and credit claims prepared by project engineers ahead of EEOS submission.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SEAI EEOS scheme rules, deemed savings factors and reporting deadlines, and update Climeaction's internal M&V methodology accordingly.

• Support the commercial team with savings estimates and credit valuations during proposal development for manufacturing clients.

• Liaise with SEAI, obligated parties and independent auditors on M&V queries and audits.

• Contribute to Climeaction's ISO 9001 quality management system for EEOS-related documentation.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years' experience in energy engineering, including direct experience measuring and verifying energy savings.

• Working knowledge of the IPMVP (International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol) or an equivalent M&V framework.

• Experience with SEAI's EEOS or a comparable energy efficiency obligation or incentive scheme.

• Strong data analysis skills across energy, utility and process data, with strong Excel proficiency; experience with Python or R is an advantage.

• Engineering degree (Mechanical, Energy, Electrical or a related discipline) or an equivalent professional qualification.

• Experience working with manufacturing or industrial energy users, for example process heat, compressed air, refrigeration or steam systems.

• Strong technical report writing skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

• Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across Ireland.

Desirable

• Chartered Engineer status, or working towards chartership, with Engineers Ireland or an equivalent body.

• Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP), or working towards certification.

• Experience with SEAI Monitoring & Reporting (M&R) or energy audits to EN 16247.

• Familiarity with the EU Energy Efficiency Directive obligations affecting industry.
