Job description
Job Description

CRB is seeking an Architect III to support and lead architectural design efforts across a variety of project types, including both renovation and new construction. This role is responsible for independently executing small projects through all phases of design and construction administration, while also contributing to larger, multi-disciplinary project teams.

The Architect III brings strong technical expertise and creative problem-solving skills to deliver high-quality, code-compliant design solutions. This position requires close collaboration with internal architectural, engineering, and construction partners to ensure coordinated, constructible, and well-documented designs from concept through completion.

This role offers the opportunity to work on projects at varying scales and levels of complexity, engaging in all phases of design such as feasibility studies, conceptual design, design development, detailed documentation, and construction administration.

Core Responsibilities

  • Independently execute all phases of architectural design for small projects, including programming, planning, concept development, detailed design, and construction administration.
  • Support larger projects as part of an integrated, multi-disciplinary project team.
  • Participate in client, consultant, and internal coordination meetings to identify, evaluate, and document design, code, and programmatic requirements.
  • Understand project drivers, constraints, and implications to develop creative, effective architectural solutions.
  • Develop design and construction models and associated documentation using Revit and other BIM tools.
  • Prepare comprehensive construction documentation, including code analyses, life safety and egress plans, floor plans, sections, elevations, details, and schedules.
  • Develop studies, technical reports, and presentation materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Research, interpret, and apply International Building Code (IBC) and other applicable regulatory requirements throughout project delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and construction partners to ensure fully coordinated and constructible designs.
  • Participate in design reviews, interdisciplinary coordination meetings, and quality assurance/quality control checks.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to Architectural Interns and Design staff.
  • Serve as Architect of Record for assigned small projects when required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Accredited professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch, M.Arch, and/or D.Arch) or Canadian/International equivalent.
  • Licensed Architect in good standing within home state, with eligibility for reciprocal licensure through NCARB.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in an architectural or AEC firm environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NCARB Certification.
  • Proficiency in Revit and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with Enscape, Rhino, and/or other 3D modeling and visualization tools.
  • Working knowledge of International Building Code (IBC), OSHA regulations, and ADA standards.
  • Ability to effectively interface with clients, consultants, and external partners.
  • Willingness to travel moderately in support of project or training needs.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • LEED Accreditation, WELL Certification, or similar sustainability credentials.
  • Experience with advanced technology and regulated environments, including R&D laboratories, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, food & nutrition, and consumer products facilities.
