Job Title Adjunct Faculty Rank Per-Course Faculty Classification Title Position Summary New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU) is creating a pool of per-course per term faculty positions in Spanish, NAHS, ASL, or University Studies, disciplines housed in the Department of Languages and Culture. We value New Mexico’s rich cultural and linguistic heritage.
The Department presently offers a BA in Spanish, a minor in Spanish, a BA in University Studies, courses in American Sign Language, and a minor in Native American/Hispano Cultural Studies. We are interested in per course per term faculty who are available to teach in a variety of modalities: Zoom, in-person, asynchronous, synchronous. The Department also looks forward to expanding its dual credit offerings within New Mexico.
Duties and Responsibilities Conduct class, meet with students, develop syllabi and course content. Able to use learning management systems: for example BrightSpace, Zoom, email, or other technology. Able to access electronic resources where students complete assignments. Minimum Qualifications For Spanish: BA and/or MA degree in Spanish/Bilingual Ed or combination teaching experience and Masters level work.
For NAHS, BA and/or MA in Mexican, Latino, Chicano and/or Native Studies, or combination teaching experience and Masters level work in the previously mentioned areas.
For ASL, BA and/or MA degree in Education and/or combination demonstrated experience teaching American Sign Language. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Advanced bilingual—Spanish/English or ASL, able to troubleshoot technology, able to use Zoom, BrightSpace or similar LMS/technology platforms.
