The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for overseeing a range of activities related to employee relations, staff management, complaint resolution, and improving the employee engagement and experience. The Employee Relations Specialist responds to complex employee related matters and strives to identify solutions that align with Clinica Sierra Vista's policy and culture. Works proactively and in a consultative manner educating employees, supervisors, and other department leaders each touch point, enabling them to make decisions that provide a fair and consistent employment experience throughout the organization.
Essential Functions:
- Resolves most issues but involves Employee Relations Manager and/or Chief HR Officer in achieving resolution of complex employee relations issues.
- Provides support in investigations involving employee complaints and disputes and prepares documentation of issues.
- Is an objective and trusted advisor to employees and management.
- Partners with management to handle performance counseling, attendance counseling, policy violation and conduct related cases, including disciplinary recommendations and associated documentation.
- Required to collect relevant data and organize meaningful information and present compelling justification for change.
- Support functional management by identifying and documenting the development or enhancement of processes and or services.
- Able to understand, document and make recommendations for process improvements to peers and managers.
- Collects and document risk evidence as directed for service quality issues.
- Collects and identifies periodic operational and quality metrics analysis for improvement.
- Identifies and works with various requestors to resolve potential conflicts.
- Understands process and stakeholders. Identifies integration defects that hinder service delivery.
- Provides guidance and support to managers on employment issues and related laws including, but not limited to disability, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, worker's compensation, etc.
- Proactively tracks and analyzes data to identify employment trends and patterns that will assist leadership with creating and maintaining a unique and compelling culture. Develops action plans and recommends interventions to effectively address issues, where appropriate. Conducts focus groups, climate assessment, etc., in support of the action plan.
- Provides proactive solutions to reduce turnover percentage as measured by the company.
- Suggests and carries out employee recognition programs. Ensures compliance with all state and federal discrimination and employment regulations.
- Represents CSV in all administrative hearings including unemployment insurance hearings and appeals.
- Communicate with management, personnel, and outside organizations to exchange information, coordinate activities and programs and resolve issues or concerns.
- Responsible for supporting unemployment insurance claims are processed timely. Compiles information for quarterly unemployment insurance billing for Accounts Payable.
- Addresses conflicts and strives to resolve them in a positive manner that benefits all parties and facilitates healthy work relationships.
- Collects, summarizes and performance trends to identify and strategize opportunities for improvement.
- Delivers provider specific metrics and coach providers on gap closing opportunities.
- Identifies specific practice needs and provide support.
- Develops, enhances, and maintains provider clinical relationship across product lines.
- Defines gaps in service relationship with providers and facilitate resolution.
- Supports collaborative business partnerships, employee understanding and insight to advise and make recommendations.
- Assists the Employee Relations Manager and/or Chief of Human Resources in the implementation and coordination of special projects as assigned.
- Assist and cross-trains with other Human Resources activities and provides fill-in as required.
- Assists the Employee Relations Manager and Chief of Human Resources in conducting employee meetings, as needed, ensuring that proper documentation is created regarding meetings and is maintained in the appropriate files.
- Creates new supervisor training and other proactive communication tools to support leaders.
- Plan and coordinate activities involved in employee relations and training, and the separation of personnel; assist in establishing and maintaining related timelines and priorities; assure related activities comply with established standards, requirements, laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Assist with the development and coordination of goals, policies, procedures, and work standards for Human Resources.
- Assist in training programs in areas related to personnel management; coordinate and conduct training sessions for employees concerning office policies and procedures and other personnel functions; prepare and deliver oral presentations.
- Assist in creation of training manuals, online learning modules, course materials, and in the review and selection of training materials from different vendors.
- Recommends and conducts termination meetings.
- Is knowledgeable of HRIS and utilize system as appropriately. Run reports as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
You'll be successful with the following qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 3+ years of Human Resources experience conducting ER investigations, partnering, and coaching leaders on employment law, compliance, and adherence to agency policy and procedures
- Strong initiative and solid judgment abilities/skills; must display a balanced, objective approach and sound judgment when recommending a course of action or handling an investigation.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of human resources related information at all times.
- Ability to work independently and with a sense of urgency.
