Job description

Warehouse Lead

Assist management in coordinating the warehouse activities of the distribution center by performing the following duties. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

A Lead's primary function is to assist the supervisory staff of the branch. The lead will provide leadership and supervision to associates in their area of responsibility as well as all associates. Assist in enabling the distribution center to fulfill its goals and the overall company mission. Maintain the company policies while communicating company goals and expectations. Primary responsibility is to oversee production in their assigned area, administer the training program of all new associates, to monitor and provide direction in their assigned area. Report to manager or supervisor in charge of their area and assume any additional responsibility assigned.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Daily interaction with warehouse personnel, office personnel, drivers, freight lines and customers as required.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.

Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: Knowledge of basic office (spreadsheet, word processing, e-mail) as well as inventory and warehouse management software. Knowledge of AS400 and PKMS is essential.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the environment is loud.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance.

The employee is frequently required to lift and move product of up to 60 pounds. Must be able to move heavy product in excess of 1,000 pounds with moving aids designed to move such items including hand trucks, dollies, motorized cart, pallet jacks, etc. The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
