Job Summary:As an Import Export Associate, you will be responsible for coordinating the transportation of goods both domestically and overseas. Your duties will include:Planning and directing the flow of air and surface traffic to overseas destinationsReceiving and shipping freight, assessing charges, and collecting fees for shipmentsNegotiating with domestic customers on behalf of foreign customers to resolve problems and arrive at mutual agreementsNegotiating reciprocal freight handling agreements with foreign shipping interestsExamining invoices and shipping manifests for compliance with customs regulationsContacting customs officials to effect release of incoming freight and resolve customs delaysPreparing reports of transactions to facilitate billing of shippers and foreign carriersDuties/Responsibilities:Planning and directing the flow of air and surface traffic to overseas destinationsReceiving and shipping freight, assessing charges, and collecting fees for shipmentsNegotiating with domestic customers on behalf of foreign customers to resolve problems and arrive at mutual agreementsNegotiating reciprocal freight handling agreements with foreign shipping interestsExamining invoices and shipping manifests for compliance with customs regulationsContacting customs officials to effect release of incoming freight and resolve customs delaysPreparing reports of transactions to facilitate billing of shippers and foreign carriersEducation and Experience:Associates degree from college or technical school preferred.At least 2-4 years of import / export experience preferred. Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, and use hands to operate a computer and telephone. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
