At Epsilon, we do more than collect and store data. We help some of the world's biggest brands discover real opportunities inside the data types, delimiters and decimals. We're looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join Epsilon's Development Team in our Data Practice.
In this role with our company, you will work in a group that is not only focused on their project work but also their efficiency, compliance, standards, situational awareness, and readiness. You'll be a critical part of a fast-moving, innovative team where you'll work independently in some situations as well as working with a greater team in tasks that require full collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Interacting with the project manager and client representatives to clarify business rules as outlined in the business requirements document.
- Participates in the development, testing and maintenance of software applications under the guidance of senior engineers to implement robust high volume production applications using, Java, C++, Perl, SQL, UNIX, and various ETL tools.
- Assists in the creation of technical specifications, design documentation, and process flows.
- Adhering to production standards in all work products and participating in the refinement of those standards to improve quality and productivity
- Documenting all work and facilitating transfer of ongoing operational responsibility to the production staff.
- Follows established coding standards, development processes, and best practices while contributing reusable code components where appropriate.
- Participates in release retrospectives and continuous improvement activities.
- Participates in technical design discussions and code reviews and incorporates feedback.
- Collaborates with senior engineers, business analysts, and project team members to understand requirements.
- Writes clean, maintainable, and well-documented code. Develops tests, debugs, troubleshoots and resolves software defects to support software solutions.
- Learns and applies architectural, security, and development best practices.
- Effectively manages assigned work items and priorities using Jira.
- Demonstrates a willingness to learn new technologies and development practices.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similarly related field.
- Dependable with the ability to learn quickly, to work well individually and/or part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Professional exposure to web services, APIs, and data integration concepts.
- Experience with Git, Jira and modern development tools.
- 1-3 years of job related experience and/or directly related college coursework in most if not all of the following areas:
- Application programming experience using Java, .NET, UNIX scripting, C++/C#, Python, JavaScript or SQL.
- Familiarity with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
- Familiarity with prompt engineering concepts and effective AI collaboration techniques.
- Exposure to AWS cloud services and cloud-native application concepts.
- Familiarity with cloud deployment, monitoring and CI/CD practices.
- Interest in learning AWS services such as EC2, ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3 or related technologies.
- Familiarity with multi-threaded parallel system application components.
- Experience with build and test automation tools and practice.
- Exposure to building metadata driven front-end application.
- Knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts and software design principles.
Why you might stand out from other talent:
- Exposure to AI-assisted software development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar coding assistants is a plus
- Exposure to containerization technologies such as Docker is a plus
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS preferred).

Compensation Range: USD $73,500.00 - USD $136,500.00/Annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
