Overall Purpose and Objective of Position

Operate container lift and terminal tractor truck. Remove, store and setup twist locks on containers, assist service maintenance mechanic with maintenance and/or repairs of intermodal/equipment at a rail ramp, and general facility maintenance.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Operate primary and/or secondary lift.

  • Operate tractor truck within LDCTL terminal facility.

  • Remove twist locks from containers on rail cars to allow container discharge, place twist locks on containers to support export train loading and ensure proper operation and storage of twist locks that remain on the Amarillo facility.

  • Help the Service Maintenance Mechanic with equipment maintenance, clean-up and assist in the shop as needed under the direction of the Service Maintenance Mechanic.

  • Notify management of need for repairs to equipment or unsafe conditions at facility.

  • Perform all related responsibilities as required.

Education/Professional Certifications/Licenses

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required

  • Valid driver’s license.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)

  • Must be fluent in English (Required).

  • One (1) to three (3) years' experience operating top lift or similar equipment preferred but not required.

  • Heavy equipment operational skills preferred but not required.

  • Job requirements include standing, walking, sitting, use of hands to finger, to handle and feel objects, tools or controls. Must be able to reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Also have the ability to speak and hear.

  • Required to regularly lift/move up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities are required. These include good close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision. Good depth perception and the ability to focus are necessary.

Container handler lift and terminal tractor truck.

Working Conditions

  • Fast Work is performed in a typical intermodal facility with considerable amount of time spent outdoors.

Employee Supervision

Supervises no other employees.

Decision Making/Accountability

  • Follow daily operating plan provided by the team leader.

  • Perform daily inspection of equipment prior to operation.

  • Report any malfunction and/or maintenance that the assigned equipment may need.
