Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking an experienced and highly motivated embedded software engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in embedded software development and experience with digital signal processing (DSP). This position involves design, implementation, verification and troubleshoot of real-time embedded software and signal processing algorithms.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop specialized embedded communication systems software, ensuring seamless integration with hardware, with a strong emphasis on efficiency and real-time performance.
  • Work closely with an Agile team of experienced software engineers on projects that involve the development and analysis of innovative real-time signal processing solutions.
  • Have the opportunity to stay up to date with the latest advancements in DSP technology and apply new techniques and methodologies.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of DSP solutions and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.

Essential Functions:

  • Experience developing efficient software that directly controls digital and RF hardware components on Software Defined Radio systems, often in real-time resource-constrained environments (memory/MIPS/power).
  • Understanding of both software development and the underlying electronics, ensuring seamless communication and integration between the two.
  • Knowledge of Linux OS, real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded systems design.
  • Proficiency with C++ and C programming languages
  • Proficiency with multi-threaded, multi-core, and real-time operating systems
  • Proficiency with object-oriented software development.
  • Understanding of Design, Implementation, Integration and Testing of large software systems
  • Experience with embedded software emulators/debuggers
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team including hardware, software, and systems engineers.
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, there is a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience in Embedded Software or DSP.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience designing, developing, and implementing DSP algorithms.
  • Experience simulating and analyzing DSP algorithms.
  • Experience optimizing software for performance, power consumption, and memory usage on various hardware platforms.
  • Experience using test equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.
  • Experience with radio communications including waveforms, modulations, coding schemes and digital signaling.
  • Experience with communications security (COMSEC) and transmission security (TRANSEC) concepts and algorithms.
  • Experience with software development using artificial intelligence.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York State is $84,500 - $157,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
