Job Title: Quality Engineer
Job Description
This position involves utilizing lean kaizen events to enhance a product line by training employees and implementing quality assurance processes, sampling systems, procedures, and statistical techniques. The Quality Engineer will design or specify inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment, analyze production and service limitations, recommend specification revisions, and formulate quality assurance policies and procedures. The role involves conducting training on manufacturing quality assurance, lean manufacturing, and SPC concepts and tools. The Quality Engineer serves as the control point for the analysis, reporting, and training of a product line.
Responsibilities
- Review and sign engineering change notices (ECNs) and engineering drawings.
- Collaborate with quality control and production personnel to drive the continuous improvement process.
- Track and ensure that measuring and testing equipment within the division is calibrated.
- Monitor and assist the first article inspection (FAI) information system.
- Write reports and standard work, perform employee training, and conduct statistical analysis.
- Ensure production tooling is inspected and conforms to specifications prior to use.
- Approve work orders before release to ensure engineering operations are properly documented.
- Apply purchase order quality clauses to applicable products within an MRP system.
- Assist the corrective action board (CAB) by being a member and providing problem-solving and resolution.
- Perform internal process audits to company specifications.
Essential Skills
- Quality engineering expertise.
- Experience with corrective action plans, AS9100 standards, root cause analysis, and AS9102.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading, NCR, CAPA, and AS9100.
- At least 1 year of experience as a Quality Engineer.
- Experience with non-conformances and quality improvement activities.
- Experience working with Tier 1 Aerospace and Defense clients is a significant advantage.
- Knowledge of quality assurance, supplier quality, ISO 9001, and quality standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- BS degree preferred or equivalent work experience in related fields.
- Quality certification is strongly desired.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and MRP systems.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Certified blueprint reader.
- Good troubleshooting skills and strong communication skills required.
- Quality certification is preferred but not required.
Work Environment
This role operates in a fast-paced, tight-knit environment where you will work closely with your manager to review non-conformances. There is potential for direct placement upon the completion of the contract position. The work involves interaction with Tier 1 Aerospace and Defense clients.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Carson, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
