Cloud Advisory Engineer

The Cloud Advisory Engineer acts as a primary liaison between the customer (Mission Owners (MO)) and technical teams during the customer intake process and onboarding process. This role is responsible for evaluating technical requirements, conducting engineering assessments, and providing strategic recommendations to ensure applications are successfully transitioned to the cloud. You will bridge the gap between complex user needs and technical cloud solutions to ensure long-term sustainment and continuous improvement.

As with any position, additional expectations exist. Some of these include, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with assigned supervisor(s), staying focused on the assigned tasks, and completing other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Customer Intake & Requirements Analysis
    • Work closely with prospective Mission Owners during the Customer Intake Process to review intake forms and pre-engineering checklists
    • Develop a deep understanding of unique Mission Owner requirements to evaluate the Level of Effort (LOE) required to transition their specific applications to the cloud
    • Act as a strategic translator, turning functional business needs into viable technical cloud architectures
  • Engineering Assessments & Onboarding
    • Conduct formal Engineering Assessments during the onboarding process to determine the technical viability of proposed architectures
    • Provide expert recommendations on implementation strategies and architectural improvements for new MOs entering the cloud ecosystem
    • Assess technical readiness and identify potential risks or blockers before the migration phase begins
  • Strategic Advisory & Sustainment
    • Serve as a high-level advisory resource for Azure administration, functional requirements, and Business Continuity solutions
    • Consult with MOs on long-term sustainment strategies and opportunities for continuous improvement within their cloud environments
    • Provide expertise on Azure architecture to ensure workloads are optimized for performance, cost, and security

Basic Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Experience: 24 years of cloud engineering experience with a strong background in business systems analysis and user needs evaluation
  • Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of Azure administration, cloud architecture, and CI/CD / DevSecOps toolchains
  • Analytical Skills: Proven ability to conduct technical level-of-effort evaluations for complex cloud transitions.
  • Security Clearance: U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance
  • Relevant Cloud Certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Associate)
  • Experience implementing DISA STIG configurations and supporting compliance for DoD SRG and NIST SP 800-53 security controls
  • Certification: Security+ certification

Location: Ventura, CA or Remote
