The 2nd Shift CNC Machinist performs highly routine/repetitive work on standardized parts. This role will pperate one or more CNC (both lathe and mill machines) and will adjust and operate several machine tools on standardized work where setup detail and operating procedures are prescribed, and work can be subject to process and final inspection check.
The hours for this shift are: 2:00 - 10:00 pm M-F.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Work from drawings, sketches and specifications in completing various machining operations.
- Perform machine set ups to obtain close tolerances, fitting and alignment of machined parts.
- Obtain required inspections on first pieces of a run according to prescribed procedure and performs inspections on work-in-progress using a wide variety of measuring devices.
- Complete and maintains all necessary records of time, part counts, first piece inspections, and requisition forms, etc. for each job.
- Make jigs, fixtures or other specialized non-production devices as qualified and assigned.
- Perform first piece inspections on basic product for other machinists, as qualified and assigned.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance of machines according to PM schedule.
- Troubleshoot drawings, machining, tooling, programming, material, etc. and making competent decisions pertaining to job at hand.
- Utilizes Geometric Dimension & Tolerance (GD&T) as called out on print.
- Ensure proper machine set up and accurate interpretation of prints and specifications to prevent damage to material. Detects errors with frequent tolerance/quality checks.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Some trade school or on-the-job training is required to become proficient in most phases of the job.
- Technical training in shop math and blueprint reading is necessary to learn the job.
- 2+ years of experience as a CNC machinist
Mental/Visual/Physical Effort:
- Walks, stands, reaches, and bends frequently. Periodic lifting of moderate to heavy items may be required. Possesses good hand/eye coordination.
Physical Hazards:
- Normal operations require eye protection, steel toed footwear, and occasionally hand protection.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to normal machine shop environment with periodic noise. Limited disagreeable factors present.
