Job description

The Medical Claims & Billing Coordinator will support day-to-day insurance, billing, coding, and administrative processes within a healthcare environment. This position will assist with preparing and reviewing claims, maintaining accurate patient and insurance records, responding to billing questions, and helping ensure clinical and administrative operations remain organized and efficient.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Help convert documented diagnoses and medical services into appropriate billing and coding formats
  • Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims within required deadlines
  • Review claims and supporting documentation for missing, incomplete, or incorrect information
  • Assist with identifying and resolving routine billing, coding, and claim-processing issues
  • Verify insurance coverage and maintain current patient, payer, and billing information
  • Respond professionally to patient questions regarding statements, balances, payment options, and payment arrangements
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers and administrative staff to obtain complete and accurate claim documentation
  • Support reimbursement, coding, payment-posting, and insurance follow-up activities as assigned
  • Maintain orderly and accurate billing files, reports, and electronic records
  • Complete general office duties such as data entry, scanning, document preparation, and records management
  • Protect confidential information and follow HIPAA, privacy, compliance, and organizational requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current HIPAA compliance training or credential
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail
  • Professional communication and customer-service abilities
  • Dependable, organized, and willing to learn new processes
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments within a structured work environment
  • Basic computer proficiency and confidence performing data-entry tasks
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient, insurance, and financial information appropriately
