Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Residential CAD Drafter to support architectural and construction projects by producing accurate drawings, plans, and technical documents. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys translating design concepts into precise drafting deliverables and collaborating with project managers, designers, and construction teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create detailed residential construction drawings, plans, elevations, and layouts using CAD software
  • Draft floor plans, site plans, roof plans, sections, and details in accordance with building codes and project specifications
  • Revise drawings based on feedback from architects, engineers, or project managers
  • Prepare permit-ready drawing sets and ensure compliance with local zoning and building code requirements
  • Maintain organized drawing files, revision logs, and project documentation
  • Collaborate with design teams to convert sketches, concepts, or markups into technical plans
  • Coordinate with contractors and field personnel to support project accuracy and constructability
  • Update drawings to reflect as-built conditions and construction changes

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or certification in drafting, architectural technology, or related field (preferred)
  • 2–5 years of experience drafting residential projects (custom homes, remodels, additions, etc.)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar drafting software
  • Strong understanding of residential construction methods, materials, and terminology
  • Knowledge of local building codes and permitting requirements
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce highly accurate drawings
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

    • Preferred Skills

  • Experience with 3D modeling software (Revit, SketchUp, Chief Architect)
  • Familiarity with structural drafting or MEP coordination
  • Experience preparing drawing sets for permitting and construction
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering documents
