We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated SCADA Engineer to join our Remote Operational Control Center (ROCC) team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems that monitor and control utility generation processes for our North American AES Clean Energy operations. This position offers flexibility and the opportunity to work with SCADA technologies in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the design, configuration, and maintenance of SCADA systems for operational control centers, ensuring reliable and secure data acquisition and process control.
- Directly support SCADA Staff and the management of the SCADA Process and SCADA Vendor/integrator to meet project requirements and timelines.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshooting issues, and resolve faults to ensure continuous and efficient operation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate SCADA systems with other industrial automation platforms and enterprise IT systems.
- Work with SCADA Integrators to develop, test, and implement SCADA logic, graphical interfaces, and alarm systems to support operational requirements.
- Review internal exhibits, create Scopes of Work (SOW) for SCADA bids and pass directly to vendors as needed. Delineate responsibilities and identify scope gaps.
- Participate in cybersecurity assessments and support best practices to protect SCADA infrastructure from threats.
- Provide remote technical support and training to operations staff and end-users.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and maintenance activities.
- Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and expansion projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or equivalent field experience.
- 3+ years of experience in SCADA engineering, preferably in an operational control center environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize projects and tasks.
- Experience with SCADA platforms such as Bluence, Ignition, Emerson Ovation Green, Rockwell Factory Talk Optix, Wonderware, Siemens WinCC, or similar.
- Understanding of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC, etc.).
- Experience with remote monitoring, troubleshooting, and support tools.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices for industrial control systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of networking and IT infrastructure related to SCADA systems.
- Experience with cloud-based SCADA solutions and virtualization technologies.
- SCADA project management experience.
